As of August 20, 2026Donald Trump‘s approval rating is hovering between 33% and 39% across major polling averages, marking a record low for his second term.  The Reuters/Ipsos poll reports a specific low of 33% approval with 64% disapproval, tied with his lowest rating from his first term in 2017.

Polling Averages and Specific Results Different aggregators and pollsters show slight variations within this low range:

  • RealClearPolitics averages his approval at 39.2%.

  • Silver Bulletin (Nate Silver) places the rating at 38.1% with a net approval of roughly -20.4.

  • Civiqs tracking shows 35% approval and 59% disapproval, resulting in a net rating of -24.

  • Quinnipiac University recorded an all-time low for their tracker at 32%

Key Drivers and Demographics The decline is attributed primarily to rising gas prices, inflation, and public dissatisfaction with the ongoing war with Iran, which 80% of respondents expect to continue indefinitely.

Support has eroded among Republicans (dropping to roughly 69–80% approval depending on the poll) and remains minimal among Democrats (around 6%).

The rating is particularly weak among millennials (ages 30–44), where approval has slipped to 26%, and in swing states like Florida and Ohio, where his net approval has turned negative.
