Trump Bans CNN, MS Now and Politico from the Oval Office

Press Outlets – CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO have been banned from the White House. Banning the Freedom of the Press is expressly prohibited. The President is not respecting the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This action by Trump most likely will be overturned in court and these press outlets will again have access. This is what an authoritarian nation would do. He acts like a few of his best friends, North Korea and Russia. This ban is a strategic error and “bad politics” primarily because it distracts from positive economic indicators. These actions are a hallmark of dictatorship, like Ortega and it wouldn’t be the first time that the press is being silenced to avoid critical reporting.

Will Republicans stand up for the Constitution and support news media outlets that lean liberal?

The oath to uphold the Constitution should supersede partisan loyalty in the face of “authoritarian” behavior. Trump boldly says that he never said he would support the Constitution.

Actually, will the Conservative news outlets actually stand by the media outlets that have been banned, should be the question. As previously mentioned, I have no doubt that these banned news outlets will quickly regain access to the president. Now it will be interesting to find out how long will it take the courts to overturn his decision because of the First Amendment and the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clause which applies First Amendment protections (including freedom of the press) to state governments, ensuring the state actions against the press,  must also respect their fundamental rights. Government access cannot be removed without a fair process as stated through the Incorporation Doctrine. The Fourteenth Amendment’s Due Process Clause applies First Amendment protections (including freedom of the press) to state governments, ensuring that state actions against the press must also respect these fundamental rights. Trump makes his own rules and disrespects the U.S. Constitution which is what he swore to uphold.

A notable fact…

Donald Trump (2025): Did not place his hand on the two Bibles held by First Lady Melania Trump during his second inauguration, though the oath was administered correctly by Chief Justice John Roberts

The oath was still legally valid, as the Constitution doesn’t require a Bible for the swearing-in.

President Trump likes to distract, as instead of the reporters having access to the White House and discussing things that are in every persons minds, like the high price of gasoline, or the war in Iran, and other domestic and foreign policy failures. Trump has elected that he has the right to choose the new media he wants to cover him and to prevent the world from hearing what he doesn’t want them to hear.

Many may not know, but access issues are not limited to the White House as the Trump administration has previously pushed reporters out of the Pentagon. But the news outlets do what they do best as they also still report on military assets – including AI threats and photos of destroyed US airbases has continued.
