Today, it was announced that the Republicans reached the magic number of 218 representatives in the House to gain control of it at least for the next two years until mid-term elections in 2026. So Mike Johnson will continue to be the Speaker of the House at least for the time being.
It appears that the only thing that is stopping the Republicans from gaining absolute control in government is the Filibuster which the Democrats will use to keep laws from reaching Trump’s desk for signature. The question is will the Republicans now get rid of it so they can pass laws with a simple majority without any Democratic votes?
I wouldn’t put it past the Republicans to eliminate the Filibuster? If that happens, Trump and his Maga government will have total control of everything Trump and his cronies want to do. They are already hunting and pecking the ‘Project 2025’ playbook.
Retribution is be something that the Republicans want to do. Today, President Trump nominated Rep. Matt Gaetz to serve as attorney general to run the justice department.
If confirmed as an attorney general, Gaetz will have access to incriminating evidence on himself that the Biden Attorney General – Merrick Garland has on him. In the meantime Matt Gaetz resigned from Congress just today, thus eliminating the Ethic Committee investigation which was supposed to become public within the next week. But will it all be for nothing? Also, prior Speaker McCarthy claims that the Senate will block his appointment. All the evidence that the present Attorney General has on Gaetz will just go away if Gaetz takes over as new Senate leader. The question is whether or not if it actually goes away before the public sees for themselves what is in the report.
Trump is working quickly in choosing his MAGA-ites for Cabinet positions and other high positions in government.
